writing instructor: long-term writing projects
Kate offers individual writing sessions for emerging writers looking to work on larger projects such a chapbooks, full-length poetry collections, and book-length prose projects. Kate works with writers of all ages and at all stages of the writing process. Pricing will vary depending on the project’s goals and scope.

Kate provides private coaching for people, businesses, and organizations looking to fine-tune storytelling within a focused scope of work. These projects may include: college application essays, advertisements, websites, articles, or grant applications. Pricing will vary depending on the project’s length and stage of development.
The Poet Laureate of Texas Amanda Johnston established Praisesong for the People Project in 2024 to amplify poets’ voices across Texas. Kate is currently working with Amanda to develop a K-12 TEKS-aligned curriculum for this project to support educators across the state in teaching poems from the Praisesong project.
freelance editing + curriculum development
Kate takes on a limited number of freelance editing and curriculum development projects on a quarterly basis. Past projects have included developing community writing workshops, creating K-12 TEKS-aligned curriculum for Amanda Johnston’s Praisesong for the People Project, and consulting as a freelance editor for Host Publications.
